FAST RESORT

IIn the 90’s, the villagers of Ein Hawd dreamed on vibrant tourism market in the village. They start building ‘zimmers’ - hospitality units. Almost every household in the village had a small room for guests. However, this dream was never realized – tourists never came, because of the lack of water, electricity, privacy, accessibility and PR. Some times the rooms were not big or luxurious enough for the spoiled local market. The end result was that the dream faded away and the small rooms became part of a house, or were turned into storage space.

FAST, together with the inhabitants, decided to embrace the old dream and give it space in the new masterplan.

Each family will receive 250 square meters to first develop a garden. The produce that will be grown in the garden will be sold in the market. This way the revenues can be invested in the construction of hospitality units. Up to 50% of the plot can be built and the rest of the area will remain as a garden. The talented village-gardeners will develop the landscape, the market and, at the same time, realize their old dream.

The location of the new resort is on the southern slope along the municipal border of the village. It has a beautiful view on the Carmel Mountains and toward the Mediterranean Sea. The resort has an extra space for the development of footpaths, service roads, large gardens, a lobby and big halls for gathering. In total the area consists of 15 dunam.
