PLATFORM PARADISE
Platform Paradise is an art project for the Palestinian village of Ein Hawd. The project will be opened from September 1st to 8th, 2008 and the pieces will be shown in the village till November 1st, 2008.
There are many unrecognized villages in Israel, and Ein Hawd represents an experimental situation in the context of the country. The idea of community and the space of the it, constituted for decades by illegal houses built up in a precarious conditions, is the point of departure for Platform Paradise. Indeed, the village has no public space at all, the peculiar condition of it is the fact that it is made just by private (precarious) spaces of houses for the families. The idea to create a platform is that to invite some artists/architects to realize art projects that are able to interact with the village - creating the conditions for a new social space/interaction. Platform Paradise wants to promote art interventions for improving the villagers living conditions and creating an experimental artistic situation in the village. So, the platform is a point of connection and collaboration between the artists, the architects and the inhabitants of the village: a common point for exchanging experiences, a place where art creativity and sociability are melting together. In that sense, artists and architects are working with the villagers for producing a new social space.
Platform Paradise becomes a democratic tool to bring art (projects) into a specific reality, an instrument for producing art while working directly into the existing life space of a community. The experimental space of the Platform aims to create an exchange context between people, their needs and artists.
